What is CFN?

CFN (Campus Fellowship Network) is a TJC network aimed to unite the college youth in the nation by providing support and resources related to campus fellowship. The CFN Work Team is comprised of campus fellowship coordinators. It meets online regularly for logistical and spiritual support and organizes CFN projects such as CFPN (Campus Fellowship Prayer Network), CFN T-shirts, the CFN Facebook page, and fellowship resources

CFPN (Campus Fellowship Prayer Network): This year's CFPN is aimed to provide small prayer groups for college youth without a campus fellowship. College youth in campus fellowships are still more than welcomed to join. To participate in CFPN, please email cfnteam@tjc.org.

CFN Sharing of the Week: Pressing Toward the Goal

In the last sharing topic, we discussed the importance of setting goals in our lives, especially spiritual goals.  Now that we have reflected upon our goals, we must do as Paul encouraged us: “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14).

Many things of the past we cannot change, but we know we have a hope for the future, and this is what we can obtain.  We must forget what is behind and pursue what is ahead.  This theme of pursuit and constantly pressing toward the goal has recently been on my mind as school and church work is piling up, as I began exercising routinely, and most importantly, as I walk this narrow path to Heaven.

Paul often used the analogy of an athlete running a marathon to explain our journey of faith.  As mentioned in the last sharing, there must be a motivation for us to run this journey of faith, and this is to obtain the prize.  We rarely see unfit people running in marathons, and indeed Paul said, “everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things” (1 Corinthians 9:25).  Keeping our minds focused on our goal requires self-control, lest we become distracted and choked up by the cares of this world, the riches of this world, and the pleasures of life (Luke 8:14). Self-control is to discipline our body by subduing our sinful nature.  Sometimes we cannot do what is good and what is not good we do; however, to overcome this, we must practice subduing our sinful nature everyday.  Everyday we must pray for our weaknesses because we cannot let anything obstruct our path to obtaining our prize.  When we have many things to juggle in life, it is especially important for us to stay focused and remember our finish line – to study/work for God’s glory, to be a faithful servant, to glorify God in all that we do, and ultimately, to remember that our soul’s finish line is Paradise.

Questions for reflection:
What are some things that may be hindering us from pressing toward our goal?
What are some practical ways we can stay motivated and keep our eye on the prize?
