NYST: National Youth Servitude Training

NYST (National Youth Servitude Training) is a seminar targeted for current and prospective youth coordinators. The objectives of the seminar are:

  1. Prepare youths to coordinate, plan, and lead youth group/fellowship activities (which may be pastoral or evangelical in nature)
  2. Cultivate a correct attitude in serving God and working with others
  3. Encourage youth coordinators to proactively mobilize members in their local region to serve and have fellowship together

The event is held once every two years typically in May during Memorial Day weekend. Participants need to be recommended by their local church councils to attend, and are required to attend full time. The content and discussions of the seminar are focused on a theme, which is different every year.

In addition to lectures and classes, participants are also given opportunity to have fellowship with one another and become familiar with other members in the country. Discussion sessions allow participants from various regions to share their successes and failures, strategies, and challenges for mutual edification.

Time is also allotted for presentations and overviews of current church work and initiatives on a national level so that participants are exposed to different potential opportunities to serve. These sessions are helpful for familizarizing participants with what projects NYM is working on, what events the GA organizes, and the various departmental projects, such as Literary Ministry, Religious Education, and Evangelism.
